Big Ben's burger is one of Cagayan de Oro City's famous buy one take one burgers and more.  They cater to the working crowd and students as they are very much affordable. Plus, it's buy one take one, so two can eat at the prize of one.  It had been in teh market for sometime now and well, it is only this year that they have improved their look. Their location is what I am talking about.

It is now more presentable than the old Big Ben's stall at that same spot. But then again, the menu is still posted on the glass.

But the dining space is now much more comfortable and relaxing for those who are opting to eat there..

But for us who just buys and leaves, it's still the same system..

Jo's Chicken Inato: Manokan

This is the famous Jo's Chicken Inato at Manokan. It is an all time family favorite whenever we eat there. Of course, there's the Buko Halo for dessert..

These two are always on our list whenever we eat at Manokan. They are simply to die for..

Of course, on the night Lili was brought to the Madonna and Child Hospital for check up, we had dinner at Manokan before pushing through teh hospital agenda to have Lili checked for Dengue. . Apart from the two foodies, we also ordered Calamares.

And Esol, which we later found out was a drinker's beer-match made from deep fried chicken butt, lol..Nevertheless, they were good. We didn't finish all of them though, we simply tasted the Esol..

Oh well, with Lili complaining already, we didn't have a choice but to have the remaining foodies wrapped for take out. And swear, the first two foodies were never part of the take out, if you know what I mean..

A Mommy's Kitchen Aid..

Our neighbor, Roxanne, just celebrated her 50th birthday and for her birthday give away tokens, she prepared some recipe kits which actually has personalized note cards with matching recipes per page. It's lile a never ending thank you card that doubles as a recipe card. And she had them made a year ago for all her favorite guests. Of course, she only invited 25 people so it is not much actually. And all twenty five are mommies who are so busy but would love to sample all her foodies for each of their families.

My mom is one of her visitors so I was able to see the cards. They are actually very cute. It's a perfect mommy's kitchen aid.

A Chef Looking for Technology Jobs?

Yes, Michael, a chef at one of the hotels here in Cagayan de Oro City is looking for technology jobs in Singapore.A friend for ten years, it is not an issue for me because I know for a fact that before Michael became a chef, he was a technology expert having graduated from a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology as well as B.S. in  Engineering.

Culinary arts was simply a hobby for him but because he is a very good cook, he opted to study Culinary Arts and eventually worked as a chef. But these days, he says that technology jobs pay more than being a chef so he is looking for technology jobs, and good news is that he is now wait-listed for a couple fo interviews..

Love a Cucumber Salad

I love eating Cucumber. I love eating it raw and cold. My mom loves to make salads out of Cucumber and our family favorite is the one sweet and sour sauce made from Calamansi juice, sugar and a little patis or fish sauce. Another interesting Cucumber salad is one with sweet dried mangoes and green mangoes in fish paste. Oh that is truly yummy. We love the salads mentioned as side dishes to a dry dish like barbecue or fried fish or pork. But do you know that Cucumber is also good for those dark circles under eyes? Yup.. They are and I love using them too. Raw and cold.

Have you ever tried using cucumber as a beauty regimen? Or would you just stick to Cucumber Salads?

A lot of people complain of not having money or not having a job. And I really hate it when these people complain because every time I tell them about the easy ways to make money online, they tell me everything online is a scam. So I go figure, they do not get any money at all.

To find money entails trusting your instincts and doing your part in the race. If people tell you that there is an easy way to make money online, better ask them how they have done so rather than easily brushing them off as if you know better. So people who take time to research, ask questions and do some experimenting always end up the winner.  Of course, when I say easy money online, it's not just about clicking a link or so and it's already instant money. It will still take time, but eventually, hard work gets recognized and increases as one goes on earning online..

Happy Fiesta Balulang 2010

Gosh, I think I ate too much.. It's Holy Cross Fiesta and we have lots of food on our table. And of course, I have sampled each and everyone of them. Now I think I will need some weight loss dietary supplement to remove the excess baggage that said foodies has given me, lol.. 

Everything on our table was fattening. Everything was an inch towards heart attack, lol.. Really, I am serious. JUst imagine all dishes served were made from pork. Good thing we also have fried Chicken and some vegetables like Creole and Menudo, of course some Sotanghon too. There was also Watermelon and Fruit Salad Tapioca for dessert. Deadliest of all, apart from the Lechon was the Pork Humba. OMG..

Some Cravings..

My sister and I might drop by the night cafe and taste some of this delcious looking Potato Salad of Miss Jessie Nery at their stall.

Or maybe we could have some barbecue at our favorite barbecue stall. The last time we ate at one of the stalls at the night cafe, we were with friends who never stopped talking about how fast payday loans could help each and everyone of us. Larry, Gerry and Terry. My friends in the loans arena. I will not mention their company but all night, Sweet and I never missed a word of their explanations.

Because they talked about guaranteed payday loans I was tempted to learn more about it. And so, I had to search, and I found more information about payday loans online with inmydebts.. Unfortunately, the information I got was only applicable in the US and not here in the Philippines.

I wonder who we will meet tonight at the night cafe.. Definitely eating healthy as we have had too much fatty food since last week..

Cheese Cake Love Story

Have you ever had so much fun playing in the snow with your snow tubes that you forgot time and all other commitments? Well, this is just a story I read online this afternoon. It's about a girl who makes cheesecake and a boy who loves to eat them. 

So anyway, the boy ordered a layer from a certain baker and the only way to contact her is via someone else in the boy's office. So after ordering he headed to have fun with the snow tubes. Unknowingly, the baker was on her way to have fun, after baking and organizing the cake, ready for pick up by the client. 

But as the group was having fun, they didn't know the time went too fast. It was late when the baker said she needed to go for she has a client who will pick up an order, and the boy said he should also go as he will be picking up an order of a delicious cheesecake from a a famous baker downtown. Upon hearing that, they both laughed. Boy said that they should just ride together to get the cheesecake. Upon reaching their destination, the two laughed at the coincidence. Eventually, they ended up sharing the cheesecake, and that moment ended in their I do's.. 

Hurrah for Cheesecake..

Somehow, his notion of women not fitting into slim shoes because of big feet has something to do with his extreme aversion to salt and salty foods. He always emphasizes that Privo is not the only shoe that women should want to wear. And of course, encourages all women to be experimental with tastes in shoes and shoe fashion. 

Well yes, he's got a point. But why are you not eating my foodies when they are not even salty enough for me?? Hehehe..

My friend Marrissa is into the buying and selling of wholesale clothing. She is always on the lookout for what's new, what's in and what's hot, not only for herself but for her clients.. Shopping for other people has always been fun for her as well as frustrating sometimes. Many times she would ask her client, "A Piece of Chocolate or That Little Black Dress?" when there is actually a need for said words to be said. Why? Because her clients are mostly her friends and peers, and they also ask her for advices as well as suggestions about everything. Although fashion is their main point of business, they usually conduct it while dining. So when client is expressing extreme want to fit into a fabulous outfit, Marrissa just tells her to quit the rich and fattening stuff in order that her mission get accomplished easily.

How Takoyaki is Made...

Here is a filling treat that costs about P 25-30 in the mall stalls around the Philippines. At MOGCHS however, you can get them at P 10.00 only.  Very affordable and yummy too. So what makes this treat a double thumbs up deal? Well, it is made of vegetables, batter, cheese, mayonnaise and Takoyaki sauce. 

Here's how it was done at MOGCHS:

First the vegetables are placed on the Takoyaki griddle. 

Next, the batter was squirted to each mold.

It was cooked similar to cooking a pancake only this is round.

More vegetables and batter were added, and when the bottom part was cooked, it was turned over to cook the other side. When it's about done, it is served in a cup. 

It is then topped with Takoyaki sauce, mayonnaise, cheese cubes. Ready to eat while it's hot.. Wanna try it?

TRIVIA: Takoyaki actually means, Octopus Dumplings. And if you buy them at a real Japanese food shop, it will actually cost you quite a bit more.

My mom, just like all mothers, have always emphasized the value of good nutrition. Take this Misua for example. Simple dish, Chinese in origin. What makes this a healthy treat is the fact that this is already a meal on its own. It has carbohydrates from the noodles, protein from the meat and vitamins and minerals from the vegetables and egg.

If we eat right, we wont get sick easily. Medicare plan or no medicare plan, we can always survive sickness with healthy nutritious diet..

Pork is good. But just in small amounts. Too much of pork, or any meat for that matter will do more harm than good..

Fiesta Craze

Whenever we have gatherings in the house, specifically, during the Fiesta celebration, we literally hide extra food for latter use in the bedroom. Why? Because our kitchen and dining rooms become so crowded. So for food not to spoil, they are separately placed in the bedroom. Food that need not spoil easily are readily placed in their serving dishes, covered with plastic wrap, on a white mattress. WHITE??? Yes, white. So that, we can easily spot for things unlikely to be present..So that when people are served, the dishes that are for washing goes to the washer, and new dishes will be served in specific order. Kinda OC huh? Well, that's my mom. Everything has to be in proper order.
