Malunggay and Spicy Ginger in our Ice Cream

>> Saturday, December 8, 2012

We wanted to visit the Bee Farm while we were in Bohol, unfortunately, our time was limited as we had to leave for Cebu at ten that evening. Our driver said the Bee Farm was out of the way of our tour, if we wanted to be on time for our next journey.

So we decided to go to the Island City Mall and have dinner there so we can sample the Malunggay Ice cream at the Buzzz Café, the place at ICM where all products of the Bee Farm can be found.

Our group didn’t agree on where to have dinner so we each had chosen different places to dine for our last night in Bohol. My sister and I chose Frankie’s Café, since it is only found in Bohol. That will go to another post though. We agreed to meet at the Buzz Café after dinner so we could have desserts together. We each ordered a scoop of Buzzz Café’s famous selections, mine being Malunggay Ice Cream and my sister’s was Spicy Ginger.
Of course, there were other flavors to choose from.. each at P 40 per scoop.

My colleagues ordered Ube and Guyabano. The colleague who arrived later asked us what flavour tasted the best ordered Malunggay Ice Cream as well. But she wanted to try another flavor  in a cone, so she ordered another flavor, Ube Ice Cream, in cone.

The Buzzz café’s ice cream is truly addicting.. one of Bohol’s delicious treasures. And oh, I love the chair above.. it simply took my focus away from the ice cream for a while, lol..

The Verdict:  Malunggay Ice Cream is to die for.. Spicy Ginger is not quite yummy for our palates..but imagining chocolate shavings and chocolate drizzled all over its top may just change our minds about it..

Cake Designs

If you are a race car driver, how would you like to have your victory cake decorated? Would you rather have vehicle lettering here and there? Or would it be a life-size car that actually moves as one drives? Huh! Quite imaginative there.. But I never thought that both can be possible until I saw it done on television at Cake Boss. That was truly awesome. There was even this huge ship, that is a complete replica of the cruise ship where the cake was brought for the ships anniversary. Ohlala! When one is a pastry chef, he or she is actually an artist. With all the many designs to do the yummy treats into, that is art. But doing it with flair is just extraordinary. At least if you ask me. I mean, I have always dreamed of doing such, but at this day and age, I am not able to, so that part remains to be truly amazing for me, when someone else does it. Anyway, I know there are a lot more to see, as there are many food artists out there.

Hope someday, I could be one of them..

Madame Butterflies Natural Fruit Ice Cream

Another attraction in Bohol is this really beautiful paradise where butterflies abound.. One will also learn a lot about the life cycle of the butterfly, as well as see live samples of caterpillars, cocoons and butterflies of course..

We visited Simply Butterflies Conservation Center on our third day in Bohol. It was on the way before going to see the Chocolate Hills.

After the tour, you will be directed back to the receiving area, where the center has this yellow themed food place where Madame Butterflies Natural Fruit Ice Cream is their specialty..

We were able to try Cacao, the fruit from which chocolate comes from.. But of course, they have lots of other fruit flavors.

I would have wanted to try other flavors but maybe when we go back to that place again.. someday..

HELP FROM CDO DRIVE.

When our beloved city and Iligan City were ravaged by Typhoon Sendong last year, we received so much help from all over the globe, including from our brothers and sisters around the Philippines. This time, it's time we give back to those who need the help the most.

If you are having problems sending help to Typhoon Pablo Victims in Davao and Compostela Valley, please go to any major TV stations here in Cagayan de Oro City, or you may also drop off your in kind donations at RA Uy appliance center.  On the other hand, if you are looking for dual diagnosis rehab centers, there are so many in Mindanao, including in Davao City. But before anything, let's focus on what help we can send..

Dinner at the Food Plaza in Bohol Quality Mall

We arrived in Bohol last November 28, 2012 in the afternoon before our convention. After we went to our hotel, we went to the Bohol Quality Mall, which is just walking distance from where we stayed.

We bought groceries  and supplies like milk, water and some food stuff. We didn't know where to have dinner, and the grocery cashier suggested that we try food from their Food Plaza.

We found out that there are different kinds of food at their Food Plaza. Since it was dinner time, we chose the ones where Pinoy Foods are served.

We had Leche Flan for dessert..

This really yummy Adobo which is all meaty.. and Kilawin.. plus rice and cans of soft drinks..

My colleagues had this potato dish with liver..

And Dinuguan..

At the food plaza, when your oder reaches P 150 in one receipt, you will get a 250 ml bottle of water for free.. Ours went more than P 200 so we got a 500 ml bottled water for free..

The food servers, cashiers and all other staff at the Food Plaza are courteous and hospitable.. Aside from the yummy food, and the freebies, I am sure people will surely be drawn to go back there from time to time because of how the staff treats their patrons..

Garlic Ice Cream at Bohol Python and Wildlife Park

We went to see Prony and Marimar at the Bohol Python and Wildlife Park in Laya, Baclayon, Bohol. But guess what else we discovered there?

This European gentleman, with his wife, operates this snack bar named as Black Forest Hut, and they serve food with a European twist..

 Below is their menu:
What we ordered was what caught our fancy as well as our curiosity.. Garlic Ice Cream..

Who would ever imagine that garlic could taste as good when it is made into ice cream?

The garlic ice cream best compliments its home made crispy, tasty cone..

All I can say is that, at P 35 pesos, with only a scoop of Garlic Ice Cream, it's all worth it.. yum!

Fresh Vegetables Juiced..

>> Saturday, November 24, 2012

I got a new juicer and after a long while, we were finally able to use it a week ago. We juiced ginger, carrots and some turnips. More than a kilo of them and here's just what I got.. hahaha..

The nutritious goodness of freshly juiced vegetables..  And the pulp we got?

We placed the pulp as supplement for the plants. My vegetable garden in a pot truly deserves to be treated too.. I just hope they still have enough nutrients for the plants.  Anyway, looking at the orange color of this products, reminds me of the tv stands for flat screens that I saw in Singapore, from my travel there two years ago. They are uniquely orange, and I think they will look good at our apartment.
