Two Favorite Pastas from Yellow Cab..

>> Tuesday, March 26, 2013

Yesterday, after Lili's and River's recognition, we had dinner at Yellow Cab at Centrio Mall. I could have claimed my birthday gift from  Yellow Cab, if we went to their Lim Ket Kai Center branch, but since my mom will be commuting home, Centrio was the nearest place to be. Anyway, I am not going to talk about what we had, I mean everything that we ordered on this post, rather, I want to feature the pasta dishes that we had from Yellow Cab. I dunno, I just thought, after seeing all the line 6 spider iv, we'd opt for some pasta with our pizza. But then again, we always have pasta with our pizza, lol.

Anyway, we had the all time favorite Charlie Chan, Yellow Cab's chicken pasta dish that's uniquely their signature, as well as Yellow Cab's Meatball Spaghetti, the kids' favorite everywhere we go.

Since I have not claimed my pizza treat from the branch I mentioned earlier, my Lili told me that we shall be going to that branch soon for her meatball spaghetti, hahaha...

What we cooked today: Pinsec Frito

>> Sunday, March 24, 2013

Pinsec Frito or Crispy Fried Wantons is a Chinese dish, although the name sounds more like of Spanish origin. This is easy to make and very easy to do. You will only take more time in the mincing of the onions, carrots and green onions, but after that, everything is as easy as 1 2 and 3..

All you will need is a kilo of  ground pork,  1 and 1/2 cup carrots, minced. You will also need 4 tablespoons of  sesame oil and  1 and 1/2 cup onion, also minced. A piece of raw egg, 2 teaspoons salt, 1 teaspoon ground black pepper,  2 packs wanton wrapper,  3/4 cup green onion, minced also, 1 and 1/2 cup crab meat, and of course and 1  1/2 cup cooking oil, or more, depending on your need.

For the cooking procedure, all you have to do is:

1. Combine ground pork, carrots, onion, sesame oil, salt, ground black pepper, green onion, crab meat, and egg then mix thoroughly.

2. Wrap the mixture in wanton wrapper.

3. Place a piece of wanton wrapper in a flat surface then scoop a teaspoon of the meat mixture and place it in the middle of the wanton wrapper.

4. Dip your finger in water and run it on the sides of the wanton wrapper.

5. Fold the wanton wrapper in a manner where one edge meets the opposite forming a triangle.

6. Gently press the sides to seal.

7. Heat the oil in a frying pan.

8. When the oil is hot enough, fry the wrapped wantons until the wrapper becomes crispy.

9. Remove from the frying pan and place in a plate with paper towel.

10. Serve with sweet and sour sauce or Dim Sum sauce.

Away from Pork especially the Lechon..

>> Wednesday, March 20, 2013

We've had too much of the lechon from my parents' post wedding anniversary family celebration. I have more than five kilos in the freezer and I must say that it is a healthy choice to keep it there until we're ready to eat pork again..

So here's a healthy alternative to lunch today.. Fried fish and warm soup made from fresh greens and tomatoes...

We love this lunch combination..

All in One..

>> Monday, March 18, 2013

Okay--- it's a Belated Wedding Anniversary, Belated Happy Birthday and Advance Birthday Celebrations for us at the beach today...

I bought these treats from a student of mine and my family just loves them... It's Cassava Roll, with peanuts and cheese on top and below is a Choco-Biko, for it's Biko with a chocolate twist.

Since we were having lechon, we bought two different types of Red Wine to go with it.. My aunt bought her Red Horse for pleasure.. hehehe

We weren't really expecting guests so we simply had a simple menu for our lunch at the beach..

The seafood vendor came and we had her grill us some of her fresh squids..

Here's what's left of the Fried Chicken and the Deep fried Pork Intestines fondly called as Chicharon Bulaklak..

 Bam-i for long life..

 Pork Adobo...

 Chicken Macaroni..

 Dinuguan..

and the chocolate cake that was sent back to our pad because there was no more room for it in my mom's refrigerator..

It was quite a day... Tomorrow, it will be my birthday, but I am going to celebrate my birthday on the 25th at Yellow Cab for that will be the date of Lili's recognition at school. I am sure she will get a medal and we'll have to celebrate..  All in One, aye!

What We Cooked Today: Spicy Deviled Eggs

>> Saturday, March 16, 2013

This is what we were busy with this afternoon. Today is actually my parent's wedding anniversary and my mother's birthday, but since my mother was also busy, we made sure that we attended commercial cooking classes too. Their celebration will have to be tomorrow yet.

Anyway, this dish is called Spicy Deviled Eggs. We chose this recipe for economical reasons. We saw that the ingredients listed were simple and affordable. It took us only P 70 each to splurge on our ingredients...

Simple as it may be, there is a proper way to cook the eggs. Boiling eggs is also an art in itself. That we learned during our lessons, and today was application for us in the group. Anyway, I will give you the recipe in another post.

Happy Birthday Ralph..

>> Thursday, March 14, 2013

March is so full of celebrants in my family. My cousin, Ralph celebrated his birthday yesterday in Butuan City..  He is actually the first to celebrate, followed by my mother and cousin Janjan on Saturday, my cousin Darwin on Sunday, me on Monday and cousin MJ on Tuesday..

Anyway, we were not there on cousin Ralph's birthday, but cousin Grace sent us photos of the food they prepared. It somehow looked like a cyber party for Ralph's birthday..

Below were some of his birthday offerings..

March 23 is the birthday of my late grandma, Lola Viating, and we could be celebrating if only she had not passed on.

Guess The Food We're Gonna Cook..

>> Wednesday, March 13, 2013

It's gonna be my parents' wedding anniversary on Saturday, and all of us are busy. My mom in particular shall be attending some important office related event that she has to be in the city proper that day, while my sister and I shall be attending our classes in Commercial Cooking. Of course, that is the first day for cooking proper that we need to be present to deliver the recipe that we are tasked to prepare. Guess what we shall be cooking... Can you? No, we will not be needing popcorn supplies as we will not be cooking any popcorn. No, we will not be cutting any meat. But somehow, our recipe is related with poultry, but not poultry in particular. Hahaha.. I love this guessing game.

Anyway, I am quite concerned that my allergies will come affront should I over eat the food we shall have.  No, it is not chicken,  hahaha.. Seriously, I wanted to learn the appetizer so we went ahead and chose it. Apart from being the cheapest ingredients enumerated.

That Cake!

>> Thursday, March 7, 2013

I have never met a baker with extremely devoted passion for his craft. Day and night, it seems that this friend of mine who offered to create a birthday cake for me, does not take rest and always come up with great cake ideas that are uniquely of his  own imaginings. I couldn't imagine how rectangular mounts can help in cake decorating, but when I saw the final product, I was amazed and stunned at the same time. I sure would like  a very artistically created cake on my birthday, just like what he recently finished  but then, I wouldn't be lavish about  birthday cakes when I will only have a simple family dinner. Perhaps in another life? hahaha

Thanks Mommy Dad. Will take into consideration your offer.

Birthday Gift from Yellow Cab

I just received an email with an attached voucher and code for a free 10" pizza of my choice from Yellow Cab. Wow! Thanks Yellow Cab. I will surely treat my family there, so I can get my free pizza. Spending P 750 minimum isn't that bad a requirement to get my gift... though it would surely be great if it didn't come with a requirement, hehehe...

Anyway, as I am still busy at school, maybe we shall drop by after the recognition program of Lili instead of my birthday, as on that day, I shall be proctoring an exam.. the final exam at school..

Glad..

>> Wednesday, March 6, 2013

I have so much to catch up on this blog. I haven't blogged in ages, and I have lots of photos and recipes to share. However, I am still very busy with grades, proctorship and the graduation come March 21. I know I still have to do some research and some critical thinking regarding the assignments that I have which are pending. I have an article to read, and to review, and all the many reviews that are still awaiting accomplishment. How I wish I could already move forward, find some really great instruments at music store at music123, and enroll my daughter for summer. whew!

At times I feel that I am missing out on so many things as my focus is solely with my school related duties. But then, hey, I am glad I serve at the public school.

Restaurant Story & Bakery Story

>> Saturday, February 23, 2013

There are two new games that Lili and I are addicted to at this moment. Both are games which allow us to cook and design stores, matching the walls and the tiles, as well as add the necessary accessories unto them. At first I thought the tiles are similar to that of the national pool tiles, but then, I realized they do are not. The problem is that, sometimes, our cooked food becomes bad and we lose a sale. I love the two apps on my android phone and tablet, and they just seem realistic in terms of cooking time.

To keep the game running, we should have WiFi connection all the time, as I will not gamble with data connection through my phone.

Busy Busy Day

>> Saturday, February 9, 2013

I am in a rush today. We are moving to a new place, and have been moving back and forth for our things to be transferred, but I have less time to spend today since I am required to report in school for a proctoring job. I wish we have an Auto rotisserie to cook the chicken as well as the pork for lunch, as my parents will be here in a while, and we haven't finished cooking anything yet. Good thing we bought a kilo of lechon earlier, but it is not enough for lunch as we are quite many in the apartment today. They are also going to watch a play at the Rodelsa Hall today, so that sums up the fact that everyone is indeed very busy.

Sbarro Festa Italiana

>> Sunday, February 3, 2013

If you wanna try some of the food of Sbarro, especially the pasta, and you want to save, Sbarro Festa Italiana is definitely for you. This treat is already good for four people, five to six, if you are with kids who are not that hungry.

With Sbarro Festa Italiana, you already have One Whole Sbarro Ziti.. The pasta dish Sbarro is most famous for..

You also have One Sbarro Salad, which is a choice of two, or half of Sbarro Macaroni Salad and half of Sbarro Garden Salad..

And, every kid's favorite, One Sbarro Spaghetti...your choice of tomato or Alfredo sauces..

Of course, you will also have two 10 inch pizzas, and you can choose the flavors too..

And believe me when I say that at the end of our meal, we still have most of the Sbarro Festa Italiana packed in microwavable containers for take out.

I saved a lot from the P 779.00 I spent for my companions.. Of course, if you want to splurge on separate meals, they may be a bit pricey in total, but the food at Sbarro is worth it! I am happy Sbarro is now in our city. I have missed it for quite a long time..

Busy Day Today

>> Monday, January 21, 2013

I am having a crazy day today. Good thing I learned about the InetSoft's report designer that helps me with all the reports that I need to finish today. Oh but in a few minutes, maybe ten or less, I will go to my class and do what I do everyday in school. Sooner or later, I will need to finish the required reports and make lesson plans as usual, then attend meetings and many others.

On the other hand, I am happy because I have less sections to handle now unlike last quarter.. So it's just okay..

My Tita's Bam-i

>> Sunday, January 20, 2013

In photo is one of the photos I took of my tita's Bam-i. It's funny because everytime she cooks Bam-i, I usually forget to snap a photo before we eat. Good that in this photo, there was some left, so I took the awaited photo. Her Bam-i is yummy. She said it's because of her secret ingredient.
