Alberto's Pizza for Dinner

>> Tuesday, April 2, 2013

Lili wanted to go out, but I was too tired to go out with her, so instead, I bargained for whatever she desired. She said she wants pizza, and gave me the number of Alberto's Pizza that was saved in my other phone.  So we ordered Meaty Royal and Full House, two of her favorites from Alberto's...

That saved me from cooking dinner, as the order arrived in time for dinner.. The riders of this pizza company seem to be wearing maha batteries that they always deliver on time.. I just love them that way..

Reheating the Lechon

On March 17 this year, we celebrated my parents' wedding anniversary at the beach. The lechon was my share in this affair, as well as some of the other goodies and junk foods. Since the lechon was huge, and there were just a few people who joined us at the beach, my mom packed us a whole huge bring home of the lechon, that is more than five kilos. Since we were drunk with all the lechon that day, we simply kept our share in the freezer. Since March 17 until today, whenever we feel like eating lechon, all we have to do is reheat the lechon according to our lechon craving..

Today, I unpacked the last of our lechon loot and had it reheated over the stove through a kawali. A little oil so the meat won't stick to the pan, and I simply allow the frozen meat to thaw, and get crispy.

The problem is that this portion is huge, so I had to slice the meat whenever I can, and have each slice fry unto the oil.. You could say that this is way too unhealthy, but, it sure worked.. It's lechon goodness all over again.. Just in time for the start of Holy Week, where we won't be eating meat (????) for a week...

Pancake Adventure Time

Just like any other Sunday in my parents' house, we cook, mix, prepare and do just about anything where food is concerned. Like any given Sunday, this Sunday afternoon is no exemption.

Well, we were tired of doing nothing at home so we decided to make pancakes.. The task may be simple, but to add flare to it, we simply jazzed up our pancakes with different flavors and toppings..

And there it is again, the bottle of Mott's Applesauce..

Pancakes with Mott's Applesauce is too much for me.. I guess it's because I have experimented with it  on my Crispy Dumplings.. Nevertheless, it tasted wonderful, especially when the applesauce just came out from the fridge..

Then of course, there was the Pancake with butter and sugar, or pancake with butter and honey combination.. But Lili's choice was Pancake with Star Margarine.. A bit salty and sweet---

The list could go on to add Peanut Butter and Nutella, Brown Sugar and of course the timeless Milo sprinkled on top the pancake, hehehehe...

Fried Dumplings in Apple Sauce

>> Sunday, March 31, 2013

We did an improvisation on our Pinsec Frito recipe during Holy Week, and this is what we came up with.

Instead of the chili sauce, we used Apple Sauce and it did taste good.

Yum!

After Puasa...

>> Saturday, March 30, 2013

After the Holy Week puasa, or no meat meals, finally, we had these yummy viands on our table.. We usually eat Lauya or stewed pork during this time, but we decided to have Chicken Pork Adobo and Pork Kaldereta...

These two pork recipes are quite the usual fair when we visit our parents' house, simply because everyone loves to cook these two.. It was my sister who cooked them respectively..

All I can say is that, they were both delicious.. Yum!

Holy Week Delights

Holy Week treats that are usually in every Filipino homes are Benignit or Ginataang Bilo-bilo or Ginataang Halo-halo in Tagalog. For those who do not know it, or are not familiar with it, it consists of a thick mixture of tubers such as taro, purple yam, sweet potato, as well as bananas, jack fruit,  sago, tapioca pearls and sugar, cooked in coconut milk and thickened with milled glutinous rice. It's a warm root crop and fruit stew that everyone loves to eat, in lieu of a complete meal during the Holy Week. Personally, I like my Benignit cold, where it has just come right out from the refrigerator.

Aside from Benignit, there is also Biko, another glutinous rice treat that Filipinos love.

And of course, there is suman too..

So what did you have during the Holy Week?

Lunch on Maundy Thursday

>> Friday, March 29, 2013

Okay..okay.. and I thought we won't be eating a full meal on Holy Week... Well, people in the house agreed on a NO PORK/MEAT meal.. So we had Ginataang Mongo with Fish Flakes and Malunggay...

At least this one, Ginataang Mongo with Fish Flakes and Malunggay, is good for the health, lol.. Another vegetable dish is the Radish Salad that is everyone's favorite...

Radish Salad is best paired with Fried Fish, any kind of fish will do.. and you get the same yumminess in the partnership---

And because it was hot even this early morning, we thought of cooling everything down with Selecta Cornetto...

Twas a great meal..

I have not been taking vitamin C as the one I had been taking makes me hungry all the time. So I substituted with Vitamin C rich drinks and fruits. I guess they are far better than my Vitamin C...

I thank my sister for insisting that I try Del Monte Prune Juice.. A glass a day, keeps my nose from running, hahaha..

Holy Week Loot..

In the Catholic World, Holy Week is a very meaningful season.. It is a time to reflect, and to ponder on the life of the Lord. There are accompanying rituals such as Puasa, which  is a term used when one is fasting.. that's one of the Holy Week traditions. Puasa, or abstinence from food--- especially Pork.

I got us these goodies to last until they last..
Special Cinnamon Bread from Missy Bon Bon..

This really wonderful soft bread, again from Missy Bon Bon..

Two Kilos of Dried Mangoes from our very own MOGCHS Coop...

And this all-time tempting Moist Chocolate Cake, still from Missy Bon Bon.. We also have 7 huge bags of Big Munch chips.. No, we are not in a party mood--- we are just prepping for our travel back home.. where our puasa will begin.. Oh, by the way, we are NOT Catholics.. do not judge us.

Manhattan Meatlovers Pizza and Galapeno Tango

Okay, okay, so what's good to eat with your pasta? At Yellow Cab, the Galapeno Tango is what's good. If you do not know what Galapeno Tango is, that's the Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings and Jalapeno Potato Wedges.. I just love the cheesy garlicky goodness in every bite of the chicken.. Of course, chicken would be too much if you have the Alfredo or the Charlie Chan, but then again, who says too much goodness is too much?

Anyway, I had my Galapeno Tango with the Spaghetti Meatbals... The kids ordered it, but then again, eating it makes me feel like a kid too..

Of course, if you have a slice or two of the Manhattan Meatlovers Pizza, your pasta will be perfect.. Hahaha.. Carbo loading as it may be for some, it's pizza pasta heaven for me..

Ice Cream Please...

We all love ice cream, and we eat ice cream whenever we see some..  So, yesterday during dinner, we bought some to cap our dinner. We bought two amazing flavors, that's Chocolate and Serendipity from Yellow Cab. They came in this adorable tin cans, 1/2 US pints in size.

When you are so full from a pasta and pizza dinner, you will want less of the ice cream, so we simply shared.. Even then, the rich flavors still catch you breathless.. Hahaha

I love Yellow Cab's ice cream..
